Survivor 8: All Star - Episode 9 (Tribal Shuffle)

NO CHALLENGE: TRIBAL SHUFFLING
As the tribes assembled for the Challenge, they were surprised to find out there would be no competition. Instead, host Jeff Probst explained that members from Mogo Mogo and Chapera would pair off and enjoy a chat over a picnic lunch.

After the competing tribe members bonded over fruit and cheese, they reassembled for what they thought was to be a merge. But they were shocked to find out that they were to take part in a random tribal shuffling by blindly picking buffs out of a vase. In a result that seems to defy all odds, all the members of Mogo Mogo became members of Chapera and all of the members of Chapera became members of Mogo Mogo, except for Amber Brkich, the 25-year-old All-Star of SURVIVOR: THE AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK from Beaver, Pennsylvania, who remained at Chapera.

The old Mogo Mogo members would now live at the Chapera camp, and the old Chapera members, except for Amber, would now live at the Mogo Mogo camp. All that was Mogo Mogo would now be Chapera and vice versa, to the chagrin of Rob Mariano, the 28-year-old All-Star of SURVIVOR: MARQUESAS from Canton, Massachusetts, who had just lost the woman he cares so much about.

IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: SURVIVOR HISTORY
As the tribes reconvened for an Immunity Challenge, Jeff Probst explained that this would be a Trivia Challenge involving SURVIVOR history. There would be a series of questions concerning SURVIVOR from seasons one to seven. The tribes would answer as a team, and the first tribe to answer ten questions correctly would receive Immunity.

Both tribes knew their SURVIVOR trivia until Mogo Mogo answered a question about SURVIVOR: AFRICA incorrectly, handing Chapera the lead. Mogo Mogo tied it up, however, as Chapera didn't know what the BORNEO Survivors had had to eat in the first-ever Food Challenge.

The tie continued to the end, when it was ten to ten. In a tiebreaker, the All-Stars were asked to list the first castaways voted out in each season. Chapera answered six out of seven correctly, but that wasn't good enough as Mogo Mogo correctly answered a perfect seven to secure Immunity.

As the tribes were set to leave the Challenge, Boston Rob took aside Lex van den Berghe, the 40-year-old All-Star of SURVIVOR: AFRICA from Santa Cruz, California, and made a quick offer concerning Amber. "You take care of her; I'll take care of you," Rob proposed.

ONE CHAPERA MUST GO
As Chapera returned to camp with the unenviable choice of sending someone home, the decision came down to whether the tribe would vote out newly acquired Amber or Jerri, who had been on the chopping block for her perceived lack of a work ethic. Scrambling for her life, Amber pleaded to Kathy to save her, while Jerri pleaded with Lex.

In the end, the perceived lack of a work ethic defeated loyalty as Jerri witnessed the four-to-one vote that extinguished her torch and reduced SURVIVOR: ALL-STARS to only nine castaways.

Voted out - Jerri Manthey

REWARD CHALLENGE: LOG JAM
As the tribes assembled for the Challenge, host Jeff Probst explained that this competition would be a log roll. One at a time, members from each tribe would square off, man vs. man and woman vs. woman. The first person to hit the water would be out, and the winner would earn a point. The first tribe to earn five points would win the reward. Chapera would win Mogo Mogo's grill, one bag of their rice and their Hawaiian sling. Mogo Mogo would win Chapera's blanket and parachute, as well as their tarp.
IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: CHOOSE YOUR WEAPON
When the tribes reconvened for an Immunity Challenge, Jeff Probst explained that this would be a target Challenge involving numerous weapons. The first would be a blowgun, followed by a spear, and finally, one member from each tribe would match up against each other with a bow an arrow for Immunity. The amount of arrows each tribe member would be allotted would be determined by the blowgun and spear rounds. When all the arrows are gone, the player to hit closest to center wins immunity for the tribe.

The blow guns didn't hit much as Mogo Mogo's Jerri Manthey, the 33-year-old tribe member of SURVIVOR: THE AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK from Stuttgart, Germany, was the only castaway to even hit the target. The All-Stars didn't do much better with the spears, as Lex had a chance to give his tribe a huge advantage by landing his spear closer to the target than Rupert's, but he couldn't do it.

In the final, decisive round, Chapera chose Boston Rob to be their marksman while Jerry volunteered for Mogo Mogo. Each was given three arrows, and the arrow that hit closest to the center of the target would win. But it only took one: Boston Rob hit the target once, while Jerry couldn't hit it at all. Once again, Mogo Mogo had lost Immunity.

ANOTHER TRIBAL COUNCIL FOR MOGO MOGO
Crushed, the Mogo Mogo tribe returned to camp with the unenviable task of choosing whom to send home. Lex immediately took the lead by assembling an alliance in order to vote out Ethan. In an unprecedented move, Lex then told Ethan that he was going to be voted out. As a friend, Lex thought Ethan should know that it was "only business." Angry, Ethan didn't take it well as he tried to put together an alliance on the fly in order to vote out Jerri.

In the end, business defeated friendship as Ethan's alliance didn't take, and his torch was extinguished after the four-to-one vote

REWARD/IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: FLOATING PUZZLE
As the tribes assembled for the Challenge, host Jeff Probst explained that for this competition, the tribes would start from floating platforms. One at a time, the castaways would swim to retrieve various floating puzzle pieces. Once all the puzzle pieces were gathered, they would then need to assemble them to form a giant boat, which they would paddle to shore. Once there, one tribe member would run through the jungle to raise a flag and retrieve additional paddles. With all six paddles, the tribes would race back to the starting platform. The first tribe back would win a major reward: a day off the island.

This incredible reward would include a barbeque feast, beer and dessert. In a surprise twist, the winning tribe would also get to pick a member from the losing tribe to join them. The chosen member would not have to join their tribe at Tribal Council, where the losers would be forced to send someone home. Thus, this all-important Challenge was not only for Reward but for Immunity as well.

After suffering the crushing loss, Mogo Mogo also had to say goodbye to Kathy, whom Chapera picked to share their reward. Kathy would be spared from the upcoming Tribal Council.

Chapera rejoiced when they saw a luxurious yacht emerge from around the bend. This incredible 94-foot yacht would be the setting for their daylong excursion and reward.
FLURRY AT MOGO MOGO
While Chapera sipped champagne in paradise, Mogo Mogo was in a flurry over who was going to be voted out of the tribe. Colby and Ethan conspired to vote off Jerri with the approval of Lex van den Berghe, the 40-year-old All-Star of SURVIVOR: AFRICA from Santa Cruz, California. However, Lex later approached Jerri, explaining it was Colby who was his biggest threat. "Colby doesn't see this coming at all," smiled Jerri, "He doesn't see a single vote coming in his direction."

Indeed, Colby didn't see it coming as he stoically witnessed Jeff Probst read the final vote, which sent him home in a three to two decision.

Survivor 8 All Stars: Episode 6 (Sue Hawk goes home)

A TOUGH NIGHT FOR SUSAN
Over at Chapera, Susan became increasingly angry and depressed over an event that occurred during a previous challenge. As Susan withdrew emotionally, her tribe mates became concerned. "She couldn't control her anger. It's really hard to try to console somebody who feels that way," reasoned Alicia Calaway, the 35-year-old castaway of SURVIVOR: THE AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK from Trumbull, Connecticut.

REWARD CHALLENGE: TRIBAL STOMPEDE
As the tribes assembled for a Reward Challenge, host Jeff Probst asked Susan about the incident at the previous challenge that had angered her. Susan's answer stunned the castaways as she exploded in a fit of rage and tears that ended with her swift departure from the game.

Shaken but not broken, the tribes chose to go on with the Reward Challenge instead of sharing the prize. Jeff explained that this Challenge would involve using a balance beam in order to stomp food items into the air with the goal being to land the items in a basket. The first tribe to land all their items into their basket would win the reward of shish kabobs and a grill. The winning tribe would also receive all the items that were launched into the basket, which included sugar, coffee and various spices.

The Challenge lifted off with a Chapera lead as Big Tom landed his bag into the basket on the first try. However, new Chapera member, Jenna, gave away the advantage as she struggled greatly. Opening up a large lead, Mogo Mogo hit basket after basket, while Jenna was still unsuccessful.

Despite a final run at the lead, Chapera could only watch as Lex nailed the final basket, which brought home the food for Mogo Mogo.

Mogo Mogo won the reward challenge
TALK OF THE TOWN
As the triumphant tribe returned to camp, they enjoyed a feast of filet mignon kabobs. Discussion then ensued as to Sue Hawk's tantrum-ridden departure. "I know she went through a lot; still, you've got to learn how to contain your emotions. I was really offended," remarked Kathy.

The talk of Sue's departure was also on the forefront at Chapera, where the tribe agreed to stick together till the end. The next day, the tribe shared a moment for Sue, which turned into a roaring rendition of "Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead," but not everyone at Chapera was amused. "I know Tom and Sue didn't get along, but his insensitivity in doing the 'Sue's Gone' dance I think is pretty crummy," noted Alicia.

Due to Susan's sudden departure, there was no Tribal Council.

Survivor 8 All Stars: Episode 5 (Bamboozled)

MAKE IT FLOAT, MAKE IT SWIFT
As day thirteen dawned, all three tribes were surprised to find a pile of bamboo poles at their camps. They were instructed to use the bamboo to build a raft that would be crucial for an upcoming Reward Challenge.

REWARD CHALLENGE: SHIPWRECKED RAFT RESCUE
As the tribes assembled for a Reward Challenge, host Jeff Probst explained that this competition would involve using the newly constructed rafts to rescue two tribemates, then paddle out to a buoy to grab a flag, race to shore, run up the beach and cross the finish line. The winning tribe would win fishing hooks and a fishing spear as well as a clue to their lock box.

The tribes were taken aback when they heard the third part of the reward, which involved dissolving the losing tribe into the two others. Members of the losing tribe would be recruited schoolyard-style, with the winning tribe receiving the first pick.

New Mogo Mogo Tribe - Jerry and Ethan was absorbed

New Chapera Tribe - Rupert and Jenna L was absorbed.

MMUNITY CHALLENGE: PILFERING PIRATES
As the castaways reconvened for an Immunity Challenge, Jeff Probst explained that they would race across long balance beams in order to retrieve their tribe-colored flags. When two castaways from opposing tribes met in the middle, they would have to battle it out, with the first to fall into the pool of water below losing. The first tribe to get twenty of their flags back to the starting area would win Immunity.

ALLIANCE SHUFFLE AT MOGO MOGO
As the losing Mogo Mogo tribe returned to camp, the lobbying about who would go home heated up. The original plan was to vote Ethan out, due to his status as a previous winner. However, Colby quickly changed his mind, deciding Richard must go because of his arrogance and deception. In an act of revenge, Jerri tried to recruit an alliance on the fly in order to vote off Colby. The scramble to Tribal Council was fast and furious, with no tribe member secure with their position in the game.

In the end, the Mogo Mogo tribe came together in unison to vote off the first-ever winner of Survivor by sending home Richard Hatch in a six-to-one decision.Voted off - Richard Hatch

Survivor 8 All Stars: Episode 4 (Robbed)

REWARD CHALLENGE: MATCHMAKER
When the tribes assembled for a Reward Challenge, host Jeff Probst explained that it would be a competition involving memory. Each castaway would receive a box containing four items. The goal was for each Survivor to match an item from their box to an item in another castaway's box. The tribe scoring the most matches would win a badly needed "Survival Bathroom," consisting of a shower, toilet, mouthwash, shampoo, soap, toilet paper, toothbrushes and toothpaste. In addition, the first and second place tribes would get another clue that would help open their lock box of rice.
IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: BLIND LEADING THE BLIND
As the tribes reconvened for the Immunity Challenge, Jeff Probst explained that the tribes would be blindfolded while guided by a "sighted" tribemate to locate pieces to a large three-dimensional cube puzzle. After they brought all the pieces back to a "solving area," the players must then remove their blindfolds and assemble the cube puzzle. The first tribe to successfully complete their puzzle would win, while the last to complete the puzzle must make the terrible trip to Tribal Council.

When the comedy of errors was finished, the tribes battled in a close race to finish the puzzle. Saboga placed the final piece of their puzzle first, giving them their first Immunity Challenge victory and leaving Chapera and Mogo Mogo in a fierce battle to avoid Tribal Council.

In the end, Mogo Mogo clicked their last puzzle piece into place just in time to beat Chapera, thus sending Chapera to their first Tribal Council of SURVIVOR: ALL-STARS.

ONE CHAPERA MUST GO
As losing tribe Chapera returned to camp, questions arose as to which member would be sent home. Rob C., Alicia and Susan Hawk, the 42-year-old SURVIVOR: BORNEO castaway from Las Vegas, Nevada, were all on the chopping block. The romantic alliance between Amber and Boston Rob seemed to be in control. Easing Rob C.'s fears was the offer of an alliance from Rob M. After they shook hands, Rob C. expressed his skepticism, "I don't know how good Boston Rob's word is…"

Boston Rob's word wasn't that good after all, as Rob Cesternino fell victim to a five-to-one rout and watched his torch extinguished along with his hopes and dreams of winning SURVIVOR: ALL-STARS.

Survivor 8 All Star: Episode 3 (Shark Attack!)

MAN BITES SHARK
While fishing for rays, Mogo Mogo castaway Richard Hatch, the 42-year-old winner of SURVIVOR: BORNEO from Middletown, Rhode Island, came across a shark. Hatch, never one to back down in a confrontation, engaged the shark in a fierce battle. After the shark had bitten him, Richard Hatch responded by actually biting the shark back. When he returned to camp, his tribemates couldn't believe it. "Richard Hatch is a fishing God!" exclaimed Shii Ann Huang, the 30-year-old All-Star of SURVIVOR: THAILAND from New York City, New York.

REWARD CHALLENGE: BETTER HOMES & ISLAND LIVING
When they checked their Tree Mail, the tribes were surprised to find a box filled with tools from Home Depot. As the Tree Mail explained, this was all part of a Reward Challenge. Using the tools provided, each tribe had 24 hours to build a home at their camp. When the 24 hours had elapsed, host Jeff Probst would bring a judge to rate each home on size, strength and creativity. The winning tribe would receive a surprise Reward, airdropped into their camp, as well as a clue to the location of a key to one of the locks on their mystery box. The second-place tribe would also receive a clue to the location of a key to one of the locks on their own mystery box.

Chapera Won the challenge
NO IMMUNITY CHALLENGE OR TRIBAL COUNCIL
As the tribes convened for an Immunity Challenge, Jenna Morasca shocked the other castaways by pulling herself out of the game. In an extremely emotional speech, Jenna explained that she had made a bad judgment by becoming an All-Star, and that she was needed at home.

Jeff Probst then announced that both the Immunity Challenge and Tribal Council would be cancelled because Jenna Morasca would be leaving the game. Jenna bade a tearful goodbye to all the castaways, then boarded the boat for the first leg of her journey home to her mother. Eight days after Jenna returned home, her mother lost her battle with cancer.

REWARD CHALLENGE: STAIRWAYS TO THE STARS
As the tribes reconvened for a Reward Challenge, host Jeff Probst explained the competition would require the tribes to build a staircase out of five logs that were adrift at sea. The tribes would need to swim out to retrieve each log, with each tribe losing a member after each plank was recovered so that only one castaway would be left to retrieve the final log. The first tribe to build the stairway and use it to reach a platform would win the Reward of a bundle of cozy, warm blankets.

Saboga won the reward challenge
Rewards are blankets that will keep them warm at night
After telling the castaways that their mysterious lock boxes contained rice, Jeff Probst surprised Saboga with a choice. They could trade their reward for a clue that would help them find the first key to the lock box, flint for fire and a pot for cooking. However, there was a caveat: if Saboga opted for the clue, flint and pot, then all three tribes would get the same Reward. After deliberating, Saboga chose the clue, flint and pot to the rejoicing cheers of the other two tribes. Everyone won!
MMUNITY CHALLENGE: FLOAT YOUR BOAT
As the tribes met on the beach for their second Immunity Challenge of SURVIVOR: ALL-STARS, Jeff Probst explained that there would be three boats at the bottom of the ocean floor. The first two tribes to swim down, free the boats of their heavy cargo, clear the water out, row to shore and carry the boat over the finish line would win Immunity.

Chapera and Mogo Mogo won the immunity. Once again Saboga goes to tribal council
